Baja and Rio Grande Railway Company On The Modeling Table |
Here are the latest models currently being built on the modeling table:
A fueling station for gasoline powered
railcar and engines.
Made from a toy Hess gasoline tanker truck tank and scratchbuilt platform.
A gas pump and more detail will be added.

Two dome tankcar from plans in Railroad
Model Craftsman.
Tank is made from PVC pipe fittings glued together and sanded
to remove the shiny surface.
This started out as an AristoCraft 0-4-0
that had been sitting in the weeds for quite some time.
I carved and broke away the body until I ended up with just the motorbox.
One of the axles was split so I soldered a brass ring onto it. The
mechanism runs,
but not very well. I had to completely rewire it and there are no
wheel pickups installed.
The new body is roughed in with styrene. My intention was to build a
Hunslet, but
I doubt I will do any more work on the project.

This ramp car began life as some of the chassis of an Aristocraft tank car. The top photos shows how I framed it out and added bolsters and coupler mounting pads. The wood frame is a caboose that I never got to, but plan on using for a work flatcar. The bottom two photos show the car as the ramps are being installed. |
Planned for the future:
8000 - 10000 gallon tank car
The Gunsmoke Jail
Wood railcar
